“Call It What It Is - Call It Grace”

FOCUS (the core of the content to be communicated)

What started out as a stand-alone sermon has become a three part series. Last week’s “The Rest of Paul’s Farewell from Miletus” was preceded by “Last Words, Loving Word, Life-Giving Words” & is now being followed by today’s “Call It What It Is - Call It Grace.” It seems all but impossible to express the implications of Acts 20:32 which is the spring from which this message comes.

Paul’s last face-to-face words in Miletus with the elders from Ephesus, with whom he spent three years, are a highpoint in the Book of Acts. My prayer for this message is that God will help us understand in a new, profound & lasting-for-the-rest-of-our-life way just how amazing & magnificent His grace really is … how mind-blowing, heart-bursting, soul-thrilling & spirit-unifying & life-changing He desires & intends it to be in & through you & me.

God’s grace is …

1. real & radical / fascinating, fantastic & free.

“God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense” indeed.

2. greater than the sin that beckons its power to save.

The word of God’s grace speaks forgiveness to sin & life to death.

John 1:14-17 Romans 5:20-21 Romans 6:1&14 / Ephesians 2:5b, 7 & 8a

Making It Real

1] Are you convinced that each of these adjectives help describe God’s grace?

2] Do you believe this is true? If so, when did its truth become real to you?

Action Step

Write a prayer of thanksgiving to God for His grace to you asking Him to make

you a trophy of His grace that will cause others to consider & come to Christ.
